I've been attempting to spend more time discussing my writing and editing process. This space has become a place for me to nurture new ideas and reflect on aspects of art and writing.
Next month, I will speak with Emily Holland, Editor of Poet Lore, via Zoom. In 2023, I was the Guest Editor for Poet Lore Issue 118, Summer/Fall 2023. I compiled a folio of traditional poetic forms. We received an incredible number of submissions.
Emily and I will talk about my time putting the folio together, my upcoming poetry collection, and what I'm working on right now on Thursday, October 17, at 7 PM EDT / 4 PM PDT.
It’s free, and I hope you’ll save the date and join us. Invite your students and colleagues. Read more about the event.

For more of my poetry, read my recent publication, "East of Wyoming, I Remember Matthew Shepard." This ekphrastic poem responds to “The Deposition, or the Entombment,” completed more than five hundred years earlier. Atalanta Baglioni of Perugia commissioned the painting in response to her slain son, Grifonetto Baglioni. My poem engages violence—to draw attention to hate crimes in history that continue to persist in the LGBTQ community.
Your engagement and thoughts are always welcome as we navigate these challenging times together. I’d love to connect.
